New Community Health Center
52 Jobs + Construction
CHASS is a community-based, not-for-profit organization formed to provide comprehensive, accessible and affordable health care and support services to all residents of the community, with emphasis on the under served African American and Latino populations in Detroit. The construction of a new health and administrative center has provided CHASS with more than three times the amount of space, enabling it to double the 15,100 patients it treated in previous years and creating 52 positions, from health care and dental provider to clerical staff.
The CHASS Center project utilized a New Markets Tax Credit allocation from Invest Detroit CDE and allocation from Nonprofit Finance Fund in concert with other funders. This development offers quality health care to the underinsured and uninsured populations of Detroit, and provided approximately 150 construction jobs and 52 permanent positions. Construction was completed April 2012.
