Invest Detroit is a nonprofit Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) that puts philanthropic dollars to work in support of Detroit’s underserved neighborhoods, residents, and business owners. We work with foundations, corporations, state and local governments, and individual donors who want to partner in the equitable and sustainable recovery of Detroit and the region. Our financial tools are primarily higher-risk loans targeting borrowers who are cut off from more traditional sources of capital. Philanthropic support has the potential to provide longer impact as loans are repaid and the funds are redeployed to other critical projects. Our grant programs also have offered over $22M in wrap-around support for entrepreneurs, developers, neighborhood planning, parks, and housing rehabilitation efforts.
