Invest Detroit

In 2025, Detroit kept moving, and Invest Detroit moved with it. Through transition and transformation, we stayed rooted in what matters: the people, places, and ideas that make this city what it is.

This year, we supported 47 projects and businesses across the city, deploying $21.5M and leveraging an additional $280M to create housing, grow small businesses, and fuel economic opportunity, especially in communities that need it most. We also put down roots of our own, moving into Jefferson Hub, a 115,000-square-foot adaptive reuse property in Midtown, and planting our flag in the neighborhoods alongside mission-aligned partners driving Detroit’s next chapter.

In 2024, Detroit showed what’s possible when capital meets community. From neighborhood parks to mixed-use housing, from early-stage startups to flavors that celebrate all cultures, this year was a powerful reminder that real progress happens when we invest in people and the places they call home. At Invest Detroit, we supported 60 businesses and projects citywide—deploying $45 million and leveraging more than $271 million in additional investment—to create housing, grow local businesses, and bring new life to our commercial corridors.

This year wasn’t just about groundbreakings or ribbon cuttings—it was about building trust, expanding access, and delivering impact that lasts. With 76% of our investments reaching underserved communities, and nearly 700 jobs created or retained, we remained focused on the long game: creating a city that works for everyone.

2023 was a landmark year for Invest Detroit, marked by the deployment of nearly $53 million—a record-breaking achievement that reflects our steadfast dedication to putting people first. Through our work, we continue to drive inclusive and impactful growth, transforming lives and revitalizing the region we call home.

By deploying targeted capital and fostering strategic partnerships, we created tangible benefits for residents, developers, and entrepreneurs alike. From revitalizing neighborhoods and supporting mixed-income housing to nurturing high-growth startups, our efforts are designed to empower individuals and redefine what’s possible for our communities.

Every year, the Invest Detroit team strives to do more good in and for our community, and we are grateful to our many funders and partners for their generous support of this work. Together, we serve and impact our community in ways that would otherwise not be possible.

In 2022, we far exceeded our original goals with record-high deployment of nearly $50 million of much-needed funding for our clients. We also expanded our work, filling ecosystem gaps by launching new small business loan programs and a new growth-stage venture capital fund, all of which provide inclusive and equitable access to capital and economic growth opportunities for underserved developers, entrepreneurs, and small business owners.
