Belvin Liles joined Invest Detroit as the Venture Innovation Associate in January 2024. Born and raised in Detroit, Belvin’s career has crisscrossed the globe, bringing diverse expertise to ID Ventures. After earning a B.S. in Finance & International Business, he spent 5 years at Citibank, navigating debt instruments and other bank products for major TMT clients like Wayfair, GrubHub, and CarGurus. Transitioning to fintech with Bridge built by Citi, Belvin helped build a two-sided marketplace connecting SMBs to $100k-$10m loans from community banks and CDFIs. He doubled their minority-owned lender base and significantly expanded the overall ecosystem. Now, Belvin’s passion for problem-solving and belief in Detroit’s potential fuel his venture into IDV. Outside of work, family, food, sports, music, and travel fill his days.
